The first scholarship given by the Sue Ryder Foundation.
The first scholarship was given by the Sue Ryder Foundation to a student of Junior High School at Wola Batorska, who not only achieves good results in education, but who is also very active as a volunteer.
There was a solemn Mass at the parish church in Wola Batorska at 11.00 am on 3rd November 2010 concelebrated by local priests and a dean priest of the Niepołomice decenate, which began the celebrations of the Day of the Patron of Junior High School. The holy mass was said for the intention of the school to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the death of its patron, which falls on the 2nd November. The celebrations at the school were very festive and solemn. After the speeches made by the guests, the Director of the Sue Ryder Foundation together with the members of the Board handed in a scholarship of the Sue Ryder Foundation. Adrian Walczyk - a student of the third form who was the first scholarship recipient. The students of the school prepared and performed an original artistic program. The blue lanterns which were called the Lights of Hope by Lady Ryder lit up the darkness in the hall for a while. Then the blue lights held by the students danced in the air. The performance called "the small flames of hope" together with music and lights made a great impression on everybody. It was ended with lighting a candle at the memorial for Sue Ryder All the guests received rosemary plant, which is the symbol of remembrance and the logo of the Sue Ryder Foundation. It was as if Lady Ryder herself was present and handed them personally. The young people preparing for the Day of the patron took part in different contests. Marta Gąsłowska - a student of the third b form was the winner of the contest of knowledge of the Patron of the school. But Ania Witkiewicz - a student of the first form won the contest of Lady Ryder's portrait, which she made from plasticine. The Director of Junior High School, Tomasz Donatowicz received a lot of wishes on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of opening the school. Everybody wished him the same success and prosperity for the next ten years.
